In essence, the grayscale channel is Photoshop's secret weapon, giving you the ability to achieve unique color results through gradients, values, and shades. When you create a new layer from the New Layer dialog box and place that new layer on top of the base layer, you actually create four layers: the new layer, the base layer, the layer below the base layer, and the layer on top of the base layer. It’s not as complicated as Photoshop and instead of having too many buttons, it instead uses graphics, shapes, and icons. The elements of Photoshop Elements: The main elements of Photoshop Elements are: 1. The photoshop file window This is where you will most likely spend the most time. There is an editing canvas (image editing), a viewport (numerous ways to preview your image), a library (where you can save your files), and a history which is your undo/redo tool.
